These are very early letters, possibly the earliest of Paul’s preserved work. The first of the two has some strong pastoral and personal material - Paul’s trademark - but the primary focus of both letters is the end of the world... more specifically, the return of Jesus Christ.

These letters are thought to have appeared long after Paul’s era. Their concern is church policy and governance.
